There’s going to be more choice out of Tampa to Europe, with Delta Air Lines planning to relaunch a route between Tampa, Florida to Amsterdam.

The route will relaunch for the winter season, starting on 26th October 2024
This route strengthens the airline’s Florida-Europe network, complementing the existing winter seasonal service between Orlando and Amsterdam. Delta also flies year-round to the Dutch city from Atlanta, Boston, Detroit, Minneapolis/St Paul, New York- JFK, Portland, Salt Lake City and Seattle.
The new service will operate on the Airbus A330-300 aircraft, featuring four product classes of service: Delta One, Delta Premium Select, Delta Comfort+ and Main Cabin.
All customers can enjoy a wide selection of in-flight entertainment options via Delta Studio movies, TV series, music, podcasts and more – as well as onboard Wi-Fi and free mobile messaging to stay connected.
For those who need connections, Amsterdam is home to KLM – allowing connections across Europe, Africa, the Middle East and India, as well as rail connections to France and Belgium.

Matteo Curcio, Delta’s Senior Vice President for Europe, the Middle East, Africa and India.
“By seamlessly linking Amsterdam’s vibrant international hub—Delta’s most-served airport in Europe—with Tampa Bay’s renowned beaches, Delta is offering customers a gateway to explore the best of Europe and America,”
“With our premium amenities and extensive global network, travelers will have a lot to enjoy during the winter travel season.”
Restoring links
It seems there’s enough slack in the operation to reintroduce the service between Amsterdam and Tampa, with easy access to Europe for those who want colder climbs, whilst giving access to those who want some winter Florida sun.
Tampa has connections to Europe, with British Airways (London-Gatwick), Discover Airlines (Frankfurt), Edelweiss Air (Zurich) and Virgin Atlantic (London-Heathrow), thus the addition of Amsterdam gives coverage to Northern Europe.
The flight appears unbookable at the time of writing – so expect to show up in the booking engines (along with the frequencies shortly).
But it’s also a sign that with the primary routes now filling up and at capacity, airlines are looking closely at their secondary links and seeing what is viable to return to their networks.

Great news for those of us here in the Cigar City! More connectivity to European business destinations, although I’ve had people tell me connecting to Lufthansa from DiscoverEuroLuftWings (or whatever they’re called this month) and on Swiss from Edelweiss are both fine.
(The main problem I’d having flying Edelweiss is that I’d have the slow, sad version from the opening of “Man in the High Castle” stuck in my head the whole way.)
I’m hoping for our next European service to be Aer Lingus to Dublin!
