Croatia Airlines has taken delivery of its first A220-300 at the Airbus Mirabel site, in Canada.
This is the first aircraft delivered to the airline from the committed 13 A220-300 and two A220-100 as it kicks off its fleet renewal.
The A220 will bring a significant technological step forward for the airline, introducing greater efficiency with 25% lower fuel burn and CO2 emissions per seat compared to previous-generation aircraft.
The aircraft will be powered by Pratt & Whitney GTF (Geared TurboFan) engines, which can operate with up to 50% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). Airbus aims for all its aircraft to be capable of operating with up to 100% SAF by 2030.
Currently, Croatia Airlines operates a mixture of Airbus A319, Airbus A320 and De Havilland Dash8-400.
With the A220-300 on the way, it will usher in a new passenger experience for Croatia Airlines passengers, featuring wide seats, large cabin windows and overhead storage bins.
The aircraft will feature the new branding for Croatia Airlines

Some time for a full renewal.
With the first aircraft delivered to Croatia Airlines, there will be a wait for the second one – with delivery expected by the end of 2024.
In 2025, a further six aircraft are expected to be delivered, with four in 2026, and three aircraft in 2027.
Once Airbus A220 family aircraft are all delivered – Croatia Airlines’ fleet will total 15 new A220 aircraft.
