Last Week at Economy Class and Beyond (21st September)

21/09/2024 by Kevincm

It is the end of another week of fun and games as we hit a rather wet Saturday evening in central Birmingham.

Nonetheless, it must be time for Last Week at Economy Class and Beyond.

Snapshots

Time for some more Snapshots from my most recent trip. We’ll be switching to long-form writing if all goes according to plan next week for this trip report – so stay tuned.

  • SNAPSHOT – Jetstar Asia 3K513 Singapore Changi to Bangkok Suvarnabhumi
  • The Avagard Capsule Hotel – Suvarnabhumi Airport
  • Ibis Budget Crystal, Singapore

Consumer views

  • Does AppleCare+ work worldwide (Or at least in Singapore)? Short answer: Yes. Long Answer. It’s something you don’t want to do unless it’s the only option left to you.

Passenger Experience

  • Emirates continues to expand its upgraded product to North America – 10 routes to have refurbished 777-300ERs
  • LATAM to refit their Boeing 787 with Recaro Business Class Seats – Another win for the Recaro R7

Routes and Networks

  • Qatar Airways goes double daily between Doha and Amsterdam – Double-Daily service for the winter timetable
  • Brussels Airlines adjusts capacity on its network for winter – A launch here, extension here and remapping here for the winter
  • Delta Air Lines goes for a massive summer expansion – New routes and a lot happening in May 2025 for Delta

It’s all gone a little SAS

  • SAS to return to Seattle – Like a boomerang, SAS returns to Seattle
  • SAS announces a long-term partnership with Braathens Regional Airways – with a big impact on Bromma Airport

Pretty pictures

  • Garuda Indonesia Airbus A330-300 at Hong Kong International Airport

Next Week

I’ve teased it through the snapshots long enough – but I’ve written a lot over the past few weeks on and off for this trip report – that we’re in a position to launch it sometime next week. It’s going to be… long. Very long, as I go into travel writer and experience mode, as opposed to the basic encounters (and there is a lot of it that is still sitting in my brain as opposed to the the typed environment).

Taking the long way (and back) to Singapore will start next week – or when I get an hour to put the introductory graphics together.

On top of that, we’ll have our usual mixture of news, views, commentary and analysis as I fight the BA booking engines.

Until then, Happy Landings!
