KLM Royal Dutch Airlines has been busy updating the interiors for part of fleet, with the deployment of Premium Comfort Class.

During the past two years, the airline has installed Premium Comfort Class (or what many of us would refer to as “Premium Econoy”). The airline has now fitted it to all of its Boeing 777-200ER, Boeing 777-300ER, Boeing 787-9, and Boeing 787-10 fleets.
Premium Comfort offers 21 to 28 seats on long-haul aircraft. The seats feature a wider seat pan, increased legroom, a larger screen, and a footrest compared to Economy Class, which has a deeper recline.
For those flying on the Boeing 777 fleets, KLM also replaced the seats in its World Business Class Cabin. These chairs feature a sliding door for more comfort and privacy. In addition, all passengers in World Business Class have direct aisle access.
This process has taken two years – with the maintenance division of KLM Royal Dutch Airlines completing the refit of the fleet a year and a half ago. At this point, all Boeing 777 aircraft have also been fitted with the new class.

Over the past two years, colleagues have worked very hard to make the addition of this new class possible. Passengers now have an extra option when booking a ticket, in addition to World Business Class and Economy Class. The first feedback from our passengers has been very positive. Passengers specifically mention having more comfort and tastier meals. That exactly matches our intentions.
Filling the Premium Economy Gap
With the completion of the Premium Economy refit, KLM joins some of its fellow SkyTeam airlines who offer a similar product – especially those in the much tighter Transatlantic Joint Venture -where having equivalent products is a lot more important.
For passengers, it means there will be some level of consistency in the passenger experience, whilst,t for airlines, it’s a precious space where a lot of revenue can be gained – either for those economy class passengers scaling up or for business class passengers who have been shoved one class down.
