Last Week at Economy Class and Beyond (17th May)

17/05/2025 by Kevincm Leave a Comment

It’s Eurovision Saturday, which means we’ll be doing commentary on BlueSky and Threads. But it’s also the end of another week, so it must be time for Last Week at Economy Class and Beyond.

TRIP REPORT: Springtime Transatlantic Adventures

We’re heading into the home stretch for this trip report. But for now, enjoy a wander in Chicago, a more than passable lounge (for the USA) and a distinctly average flight to London.

  • A Monday Morning Adventure around Chicago
  • Back to O’Hare and the American Airlines Flagship Lounge
  • AA90 Chicago O’Hare to London Heathrow

Passenger Experience

  • jetBlue unveils its Dunkin’ livery… with an interesting offer to match – Even aircraft passengers run on Dunkin’… with some interesting status offers
  • United Airlines unveils Polaris Studio – its latest Boeing 787-9 configuration – And premium heavy at that
  • Manchester Airport Terminal 3 to get a glow-up –
  • Delta Air Lines renames their seating products… bringing the joy of segmentation – We’ll segment until we can’t segment no more!

Routes and Networks

  • Etihad Airways to launch a new service to Charlotte, NC – Well, that’s different.

Orders

  • Avrilease to order up to 30 Boeing 737-8 aircraft – In addition, both Qatar Airways and Etihad also put in orders with Boeing.
  • Braathens Regional Airlines renews its maintenance agreement with ATR Aircraft

Rail

  • Greater Anglia Railway Company to be nationalised in October – The third company to move back under control.

Pretty Pictures

  • SWISS International Air Lines Airbus A220-300 taxiing at Bucharest Henri Coandă Airport

Next Week

I’ll be wrapping up the Chicago Trip Report (with a little sting in the tail… because everyone loves a sting at the end). Whilst I do have a Hamburg trip report too, I might hold off on it for a little bit. Whilst it’s mostly written, it needs images assigned to it. That’s fine, but I’ve got some data management to work complete too, as I’ve commissioned the new storage box at home.

More on this soon.

On top of that, I’ll be catching up on the news, views and other things as we head into another week and the next bank holiday weekend.

Until then, Happy Landings!
