Last Week at Economy Class and Beyond (7th June)

07/06/2025 by Kevincm Leave a Comment

We’re into June, and starting to barrel toward the halfway point of the year.

Still, we’ve hit the end of the week, so it must be time for Last Week at Economy Class and Beyond.

It’s a real-life Falinks! Or… it could be capsules for a ferris wheel in Cathedral Square, Birmingham

Data Storage Advettures

Another week of data storage adventures at Economy Class and Beyond as I complete the first upgrade to my NAS. That’s right – more storage.

  • Moving data around using ROBOCOPY
  • Growing the Storage Pool

  • United Airlines partners with Spotify for content – with the ability to connect your account to the aircraft coming in 2026

Connectivity

  • Royal Brunei selects Intelsat for Multi-Orbit In-Flight Connectivity – GEO and LEO for the A320neo fleet
  • Lufthansa activates Free Inflight Messaging for intercontinental flights – with picture messaging too

Routes and Networks

  • Etihad Airways to move its Sydney flights to all-A350 aircraft – First A350 to appear in October, full switch by January 2026
  • Emirates plans its return to Damascus, Syria – After a 13-year break

Next Week

We’re fast heading towards Salon international de l’aéronautique et de l’espace de Paris-Le Bourget… or for the rest of us, The Paris Air Show. I’ve seen a few things cross my desk already, and I’m planning to enjoy the airshow from a coffee shop with air conditioning.

But we’re in the build-up point of the air show, so expect a quieter news cycle next week.

We’ll be keeping an eye on that, as well as the usual headlines that pass over our desk as we see them hit.

Until then, Happy Landings!
