Discover Airlines shows off its planned new interiors

30/01/2026 by Kevincm Leave a Comment

Lufthansa Group subsidiary Discover Airlines shows off its new interior – and again, we have a nice-looking cabin coming up, it calls “Ocean Blue”.

The retrofit will apply to the Discover Airlines Airbus A330-300 fleet. The first aircraft with the new cabin will fly from April 2027, with all aircraft to be equipped with the new cabin by mid-2028. The Ocean Blue name plays to the call sign used by the airline – Ocean (Callsign: OCN).

After the conversion, each Airbus A330 will have 288 seats: 227 in Economy Class, 31 in Premium Economy Class and 30 in Business Class.

Here is the seat map:

Let us dive in. If you have seen the recent Edelweiss announcement, this will look remarkably familiar, with a three-and-a-half-class layout deployed.

Economy Class

Economy Class passengers should see more legroom with a more relaxed seating angle, as well as a six-way headrest. As before, travellers can also book seats with significantly more legroom if they wish.

The usual 2-4-2 formation is used for the majority of the cabin.

Premium Economy

Premium Economy passengers can look forward to a hard-shell seat design, which can be adjusted effortlessly without disturbing fellow passengers. It features a discreet privacy screen that provides more privacy.

It features a large seat incline, an integrated leg rest and built-in reading lamps.

It’s the expected seat density here, with seats in a 2-3-2 formation through the cabin.

Business Class

Business Class is formed in the now-standard 1-2-1 formation, with each seat offering direct access to the aisle. Around half of the seats are couples, where an adjustable privacy divider allows either rest or shared experiences.

The seats convert into a flat bed, offering a 2-metre space, with greater privacy and storage options than before.

Business Class Suite

Like Edelweiss, Discover Airlines is introducing a Business Class Suite product in the front row. They will featuresliding doors around 1.20 metres high, 32-inch monitors, a generous open legroom, more space and storage space, as well as an extended culinary offer. They will offer maximum privacy and comfort aboard.

Note that only the front two seats in the middle of the first row of business class will be fitted with this product.

Across the cabins, there will be 4K touchscreens with integrated Bluetooth function to connect your own devices, such as headphones.

In Economy Class, USB-C ports are available at every seat; Business Class and Premium Economy offer USB-C and power outlet ports, as well as wireless charging.

In Premium Economy, guests benefit from noise-cancelling headphones for the first time.

Inflight connectivity will be provided by Starlink, offered free of charge.

In Quotes

Ulrich Lindner, CEO of Discover Airlines, says:

“With this investment, we are setting new standards for long-haul holiday flying. Five years after our founding, we are investing a three-digit million sum specifically in comfort, quality and the travel experience of our guests. This is a clear commitment to the further development of Discover Airlines. We are proud of what we have achieved and look forward to welcoming our guests to the new Ocean Blue cabin soon.”

Another strong Leisure Product

It is refreshing the leisure arms of the Lufthansa Group is the key thing for them at the moment, with both Edelweiss and Discover getting new interiors for their fleets.

And again, it’s a nice-looking cabin, full of the usual suspects (I suspect the Recaro R3 has made an appearance in Economy Class, the ZIM Premium Economy Seat in Premium Economy, and what looks like the Thompson Vantage XL+ in Business Suite/Business Class.

Interestingly, there will only be two Business Class Suite seats in this configuration (where they might have been able to get away with four, maximising the front row of the aircraft.

Nonetheless, it looks like a solid set of products that will please passengers.

And who knows – with refurbishments going into mid-2028, it is probably going to beat the Lufthansa Allegris rollout by a country mile.
