Glenn Chai, CEO of STARLUX Airlines, said:
“We are thrilled to announce our new Prague route as STARLUX Airlines’ first European destination, which has been made possible thanks to thorough preparation and strong support from our partners. We sincerely thank Prague Airport for their help,”
“Prague has always been a popular destination for Taiwanese travelers, and the growing ties in the semiconductor industry are expected to boost demand for flights between Taiwan and the Czech Republic. As Taiwan serves as a key hub in Asia, our vast Asian network will facilitate smooth connections to major cities across the region. Our entire fleet of next-generation Airbus aircraft aims to provide a premium travel experience,”
Jiří Pos, Chairman of the Prague Airport Board of Directors, added:
“We are excited to welcome STARLUX Airlines as a new partner at our airport. Additionally, Prague will be the first city in Europe that the airline will serve on a regular basis. We value this new partnership greatly and are confident that this regular flight will enhance tourism between the Czech Republic and Taiwan. We believe more than 95,000 travelers could use this service in both directions during its first year,”
A first step to Europe
STARLUX Airlines has been slowly building out its international presence, focusing on Asia and the West Coast of North America in the first instance. With the Airbus A350-1000 on the way, the extra capacity will allow STARLUX to start experimenting with its routes, shifting right-sized aircraft onto them.
Prague is a notable first step in addressing the Eastern European market for connectivity. Prague is connected to Taipei with China Airlines already, so there will be competition on the route from day one.
With extra seats (and no longer having to make the connection via Abu Dhabi), STARLUX thinks there’s a market to tap into.
We’ll see.
