Iberia has fitted its first wide-body aircraft with Starlink connectivity and has deployed it into service.

The first Iberia plane equipped with free high-speed Wi-Fi took off last night from Madrid-Barajas airport. The flight, bound for São Paulo and registered EC-MAA (an Airbus A330-300), is the first in the airline’s fleet equipped with Starlink’s connectivity, which allows its customers to have a high-speed internet connection.

Passengers on the flight were able to enjoy this new and improved onboard connectivity system, designed to support multiple devices connected simultaneously and ensure a seamless experience for all customers

The new service will be free for customers in all cabins – Economy, Premium Economy and Business – and will offer a connectivity experience similar to that of home, with speeds of up to 500 Mbps.

This will enable bandwidth-intensive activities such as live event streaming, video calls, online gaming, simultaneous browsing, and remote work. In addition, connectivity will be available throughout the journey, from boarding to arrival (gate-to-gate) to provide a seamless and consistent digital experience on board.

Beatriz Guillén, Iberia’s Director of Customers, on the launch said:

“We are delighted to become the first Spanish airline to offer the fastest internet connection on board the market. We know that it is very important for our customers to be able to stay connected during the flight, whether they are travelling for work or leisure, and thanks to this new service we are going to significantly improve their experience on board. In addition, this project reflects our commitment to innovation and digitalisation, two key axes of the 2030 Flight Plan”,
