As a lot of you know, I more than fiddle with a camera in my spare time. However, there comes a time when I have to start pruning the photo collections. Why you may ask? I've recently switched to a Canon 6D, and the file sizes are... well... enormous. I shoot Camera RAW files (as well as a lot on the iPhone), and here are the output files of a simple file (ISO … [Read more...]
BA introduces short-haul hand-luggage only fares at Heathrow and City
For those with some memory, British Airways introduced hand baggage only fares at Gatwick as a trial, and then extended the trial to all short-haul routes from that airport. Well, bad news. The trial is now creeping its way to British Airway's other bases at Heathrow at London City. In addition, new semi-flexible and full flex fares will be introduced. So what are the … [Read more...]
The Heathrow Hotel Hoppa – Useful or Useless?
Apart from muggins missing his flight yesterday, there was another thing that got on my nerves... twice in fact. And it's Heathrow Airport's Hotel Hoppa. Now, whilst the Holiday Inn Ariel isn't that far out of the sticks (for example, from my room I could see the threshold of 27R), getting to T5 can present minor issues - especially when you need to go in the early … [Read more...]

I’ve got a golden ticket… (to give to a BA Staff member)
I must admit, there have been times when I've flown British Airways, and I've been a tiny bit frustrated over service (or a lack of it). There are other times that service aboard their planes has blown me away (in both Club World and World Traveller. Now, the normal method of thanking staff is to file a www.ba.com/welldone.... and I've got to admit - sometimes I feel it isn't … [Read more...]
The only reason the Saturday away rule applies… is to make cash (As Brussels Airlines demonstrates…)
Yes, I'm stating the obvious again, but once again - European airlines are the masters of the Saturday away rule. Allow me to elaborate. The Saturday night away rule is used by a lot of airlines to separate business and leisure travellers - with business travellers prepared to pay hand over fist, whilst the leisure travellers will put up with the inconvenience of a night … [Read more...]
The reason we won’t see a decision regarding runways, airport or anything in the UK…
The following is my comment and thoughts alone... and yes, I'm flying off the handle on this one. The reason why can be boiled down to two terms. POLITICAL INDECISION and POLITICAL SURVIVAL No politician likes to deal with Heathrow and would rather "put off" or "put the subject under review", rather than grasping the nettle and dealing with it. Why? Three … [Read more...]
Ethiopian 787 Incident – Not Battery Related from the looks of it.
According to a couple of reports (BBC, FlightGlobal), it looks like the fire on the Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 787 is not linked to the onboard Lithium Ion Batteries according to the UK Air Accidents Investigation Board As we're all aware, an on-board incident on the parked airplane - ET-AOP - which required 13 fire tenders at one point assisting in dampening down the plane … [Read more...]
