19/01/2014 by Kevincm

It's Sunday again, so it must be time for some more airplane art. This week, it's an Air France Airbus A320, installed with Sharklets at Paris Charles De Gaulle Airport -- parked at Terminal 2E, late into the night. The image is clickable if you want to see a larger version – and yes you can keep them for your desktops! More airplane art next week! Want to … [Read more...]

Video Saturday – The Belly of the Beast

18/01/2014 by Kevincm

It's Saturday again, and it's time for another video. I've shown this off before, but this video is just too darn good NOT to show again. This is The Belly of the Beast - where a camera was strapped onto the landing gear of a Boeing  747-200 Freighter with a takeoff from Johannesburg, and landing at Maputo. And it's very impressive … [Read more...]

Trans-atlantic thoughts

16/01/2014 by Kevincm

Good afternoon from the JFK Flagship lounge where my next flight is marked as "Delayed", with a boarding time long enough in the future to write a few thoughts down... and then run off for a pane again. The Ibis Paris CDG is almost a capsule hotel - with how crammed it was, I could swing one cat in the main room... and no cats in the shower/bathroom I hate Paris Charles … [Read more...]

So Air France was….

15/01/2014 by Kevincm

... mostly functional. All I'll say is I'm glad I paid FlyBe the lowest possible prices to travel with them, rather than paid the price Air France wanted for a single for the same flight. (FlyBe wanted £45 in Economy £270 in Premium, Air France was only selling premium tickets for £260 a pop). Le WhaleJet poking itself from a window at CDG T2E Although I'm … [Read more...]

Ah. Birmingham Airport. Yes. Well. Umm… (Another trip…)

15/01/2014 by Kevincm

Good evening from Birmingham  Airport where I'm sitting in the public terminal area as I prepare to execute my end of year qualification run: As you look at this map, you'll notice there's a fair bit of convoluted routing... and that's just in New York and Newark. The mess that is Europe will provide some surprises (as a train will feature heavily in this trip … [Read more...]
