I’d say Good Morning/Good Afternoon from Paris.
Except that would be an unmitigated lie.
I was waiting for something to go wrong this trip, and I’ve had two doses of it today:
- Firstly some nice person decided they liked my wallet better than me. And as such stole it. 🙁
- French Customs were extremely interested in my bag too. because it seems that’s all they could be bothered with hitting a single traveller with bag strip downs 🙁
So… why am I not totally falling apart at the seams here? My credit cards and debit cards have gone walks?
- Eurostar managed to issue my ticket without the card I paid on (again, a great example of Eurostar Customer service)
- I made the effort to keep another credit card in another bag in a different place, with some local currency in it – thus I have a way home, and have some cash for a taxi cab (and also negating the need for expensive fees for using a Credit card in a cash machine).
Whilst it’s a pretty much unmitigated disaster, this is NOT a total disaster.
Oh, and OpenSkies by British Airways? Whilst the hard product is the old Club World seat, the service and how it’s delivered is top-notch (along with some things that put BA Mainline Club World to shame).
More later when I’m on a slightly more reliable Internet connection… and in England’s Green and Pleasant Land.

Greetings from Amsterdam. I’m sorry you had a bad experience in Paris. Sounds like you were prepared for the worst case scenario and not totally screwed. As long as you have a credit/debit card and your passport, you are able to get around/home.
