Qantas seem to be busy tinkering with it’s frequent flyer programme, and has annoucned a bunch of changes to it.
Lets go through them on by one:
- Increased Cabin bonuses From 17 May 2011, Cabin bonuses are up 10% to 25% in Premium Economy, from 25% to 50% in Business and from 50% to 100% in First when flying Qantas with a QF number on the ticketcode.
- A new membership tier Platinum One – What sounds like a mixture of Lufthansa HON Circle, United’s Global Services and British Airways Gold Guest list, you’ll need to pull down 3,600 Status credits in a membership year for this level. Benfits TBC.
- Fiddling around the notifications for upgrades so they’ll be notifications.
- Loyalty bonus Changes – From December 2011, you will earn a Loyalty bonus of 8,000 points for every 500 Status credits you earn within a single membership year – up to a maximum of four Loyalty bonuses per membership year. This will replace the current bonus of 5,000 points for every 450 Status credits.
- Points Surcharge increases when using points for surcharges, fees and taxes on Australia and New Zealand Domestic Classic Award flights, the points required will increase from 3,000 to 4,500 points per segment.
- Jetstar Earning improves – From 17 May 2011, you add points, Status credits and other benefits to any Jetstar base fare for an additional cost. Adding a Plus or Max bundle to their Starter or Business fare on Jetstar will earn points and Status credits.
I’m not seeing much bad there – for Australian flyers or flyers who are attached to Qantas, this isn’t a bad thing.
