This will sort of please Rene at DeltaPoints as someone has brought some CRJ-1000’s. Not Delta sadly, but Garuda Indonesia.
The order is one of those mixes that the aviation market seems to like – some leased, some brought, and a pile of options.
- 6 CRJ-1000’s to be purchased outright by Garuda
- 12 CRJ-1000’s to be leased via Nordic Aviation
- An additional 18 options (purchase options) for more CRJ-1000’s.
The CRJ’s will be joining during the tail end of 2012, with the bulk of the delivery in 2013, configured in a 2-class configuration, based in regional Indonesian cities, connecting domestic and some international routes as needed.
Now for the Delta interest (see, I can mix stuff!) Gaurda Indonesia is due to join SkyTeam in 2012. Other operators of the CRJ-1000 are Brit Air (A French operator based in Brittany and not to be confused with British Airways) and Air Nordstrom (aligned with the Iberia/OneWorld end).
Now whilst this is a great expansion of the CRJ-1000 project, I’m still not a fan of the CRJ series. Especially if you’re in the excuse of the window seat. It’s just plain too narrow for my liking compared to the Embraer E-Jet series. Who knows, when the Bombardier C-Series finally makes it out of the hanger, it could be the high regional/low mainline jet some are looking for….

So I just need to fly to Indonesia to get on one with my Delta points. I could do that. I am not going to but I could! – René

There’s always the French option too with Air France/Brit Air 😉
