Delta waves goodbye to Gatwick, boosts frequencies to Heathrow

23/02/2012 by Kevincm

It seems that Delta is finally turning its full attention to Heathrow, with the announcement of a second daily flight from London Heathrow to Atlanta, but at a price for Gatwick, which looses its last Delta service (also serving Atlanta)

Since Delta has had access to London Heathrow, services have moved over at a pace with New York-JFK services moving completely over first, then Cincinnati, and now finally Atlanta.

The 2nd flight will operate as below:

Depart ATL 20:45 ARRIVE LHR 1015+1
Depart LHR 21:45 ARRIVE ATL 14:15+1

Commencement date: 18th April 2012
Booked equipment: Boeing 767-400ER

It’s another loss for Gatwick which is starting to loose long haul services after a lot of work. Meanwhile, Heathrow continues to cement its place as the place airlines wish to hub at.

My eyes are dizzy reading this:

Depart LHR 21:45 ARRIVE ATL 14:15+1

    what am I missing?

The schedule for LHR-ATL can’t be right. Is it an 11:45am departure? That would be a 7:30 flight, which is probably too short. Or 9:45am departure?

I had a trip booked for Gatwick and have been told that that plane is no longer going there; Is there any concession offered by Delta to get me to the destination that I booked? They could at least offer a shuttle service to Gatwick, couldn’t they? (We are visiting friends near the Gatwick airport and not going to London, so yes, the destination was Gatwick not London.)
