Virgin Atlantic is preparing to swap out Airbus 340’s for Airbus A330’s on its London Heathrow to Washington DC route.
Flights VS21 and VS22 are the ones to be changed:

The switch-over has happen a good five months early, with an original start date of 31st March 2013 now pushed forward to 28th October 2012.
The on-board product will be the “new” Virgin Atlantic A330 product featuring the updated Upper Class seat, Premium Economy and Economy Class seating. The configurations are not too tight with:
- 1-2-1 in a Herringbone configuration for Upper Class (Business) with 33 seats
- 2-3-2 in Premium Economy with 48 seats
- 2-4-2 in Economy with 185 seats.
Compared to the A340-600 that currently operates, there is a capacity drop in Upper Class (12 seats) and in Economy Class (48 seats), and a slight increase in Premium Economy (with 10 extra seats).
