BMI Regional (the spin-off of the regional operation from the old “BMI”) seems to be trying new routes out, with the announcement of a new UK regional route connecting Newcastle-Upon-Tyne to Brussels National Airport.
The airline will have a monopoly on the route as the first operator, and will commence services from 3rd March 2014.
The service will operate double-daily with an Embraer ERJ-145 and the exact flight timings to be confirmed.
The lead-in fares start at £69.99 single. This includes taxes and a 20kg hold allowance, and a full inflight service.
BMI Regional has been busy, with 12 routes opening since it became an independent entity, and has recently regained the “MIDLAND” call sign
It’s a sign that this little airline is still surviving.
The route provides a useful option for those who do not wish to one-stop in London, or take the train to Kings Cross and a Eurostar to Brussels. With BMI regional operating services from East Midlands and Edinburgh to Brussels already, another route could really help expand their reach.
