The Dubai Air Show is still going on, and that means orders on books with more airlines ordering more kit. Whilst a record beating day like yesterday is out of the question, there are still companies who need to get the signature on the dotted line..
- First up is lessor GE Capital Aviation Services (GECAS) – who have placed an order for five ATR 72-600s, with options for five more. These will be leased out as needed with no airline specified yet.
- A start-up carrier called Libyan Wings will be joining the aviation party, with direct orders from Airbus for three A350-900s and four A320neo aircraft as part of its expansion plans. The airline based out of Tripoli will initially be built on leased Airbus two A320 aircraft, growing to a fleet of ten.
- Air Cote d’Ivoire has placed an order for two Bombardier Dash 8-Q400s, with two options
- Boeing meanwhile is targeting first flight of the 777X Series aircraft for 2019, with entry to service in 2020. Boeing is hoping these time scales will catch more 747-400 and 777-300ER replacements. The road to first flight is a long one, with designs to be frozen, specifications to agreed and detailed design work to be completed.
There is a long way to go in this air show, and there could be some big orders still left to be made.
More from Dubai tomorrow.
