Time for another hit of BAcon action, where I dumped myself on the final night – at the Luxor. This was booked in advanced with Hyatt for some Gold Passport points, as well as pre-paid.
That was a mistake.
Inside initially isn’t too bad.
I was placed in the main building itself. And that’s not so bad apart from those “inclinators” that run down the sides of the building that are rattley as heck.
Then the hallways. And it didn’t matter the time of day I passed through, there were bags of empty towels lurking around:
My one abiding memory of the halls of the Luxor…
And then we come to the room itself. Well, here are some pictures… but it can’t covey the smell of it – which smelt of old smoke.
Although whilst the extraction fan in the bathroom was loud, it did have a cute soap there:
So what else was wrong? Apart from the rattling Air Conditioning that was a useful as a gnat wheezing, the lack of Internet connectivity. Whilst there was no WiFi in the rooms of the hotel (there was free WiFi on the hotel lobby floor), the wired Internet connection failed to work at any time.
Firstly, the Cable Modem was dead, and when that was replaced, the modem couldn’t talk beyond the room.
Frankly, that was useless.
There was a bright spot to all these moans, but I’m saving that for the full trip report. Suffice to say… I wouldn’t recommend anyone stay at Luxor if they need to remain connected when in Las Vegas….
