When I passed through Heathrow Terminal 1 earlier this year… it was pretty much a ghost town.
Well it seems the place is going get a lot quieter as the last Star Alliance Airlines begin to move out.
The last of the Star Alliance airlines remaining – Air New Zealand, Asiana Airlines, TAP Portugal and South African Airways will move over to Terminal 2 on the 22nd October (in fact – today).
So who will be left behind?
It will mainly be British Airways (operating services to the Europe, Middle East and Commonwealth of Independent States countries), El Al, TAM Airlines and Icelandair.
And that’s a big terminal considering who is left in it.
Heathrow Terminal 1 is due to close during 2015/2016 as the airport continues to change and evolve.
And I’m going to miss it in some ways. It’s been the start of more than one adventure for me in the past.
I’m not going to miss the hiking across the terminal though to get to the far end gates though.
