… and I’m not too sure what to think of it.
EasyJet – the Low Cost Carrier, second largest carrier in UK (by numbers of people carried) is making a change to its paintwork it will have on its plane.
Here’s a version of the old livery:
Easyjet Airbus A319 at Birmingham airport – Image, Economy Class and Beyond.
The livery that EasyJet has used hasn’t changed much, apart from changing the telephone number to book flights to a web address. Nice and simple.
Well, it seems that times have changed, and a new livery has been unveiled. Let’s look at it below:
So what’s changed? Firstly, the orange on the tail-fin has been extended to the fuselage. Next, there’s a jaunty orange stripe on the fuselage itself, stretching from the top of the cockpit and downwards in a diagonal sweep. Finally, the Easyjet logo has been reversed into white and has had the .com dropped.
The boilerplate from EasyJet goes a little like this, as noted by their commercial director Peter Duffy:
“As you would expect from easyJet this is a low cost makeover – all our new planes will be painted with the new livery, but we’ll only re-paint the old ones as needed. It could take five years for all the fleet to sport the new paint job!
“Like easyJet itself, we wanted our livery to be as relevant for the next twenty years as it has been for the past twenty. The final design was selected by nearly 4000 staff and customers.”
The paint job will take time, with 29 planes due to be painted up by the end of 2015.
It’ll take getting used to this new version of the Easyjet livery. That orange stripe from the cockpit down to the fuselage is a bit jarring the first time you see it.
To be honest, I can’t get used to it. Maybe it will grow on me.
