Emirates add more Airbus A380 destinations

18/12/2015 by Kevincm

It seems Emirates is spreading the wings of its Airbus A380 fleet a bit further, with more destinations to receive the WhaleJet service.

So which airports are getting Airbus A380s?

  • Dubai to Birmingham Airport (UK) My local airport gets a boost with EK039/040 switching from a Boeing 777-300ER to A380 operation (and also marks the first daily service with an A380 to and from Birmingham Airport. Commences 27th March 2016. Emirates will use a two-class A380 on this service.
  • Dubai to Prague gets a daily Airbus A380 in a three class configuration to replace the exisiting  three class 777-300ER. Commences 1st May 2016.
  • Dubai to Taipei Taoyuan  gets a daily Airbus A380 in a two class configuration to replace the existing two class 777-300ER. Commences 1st May 2016.
  • Dubai to Barcelona will go double A380 daily, with EK187/188 to be operated with a three class A380, replacing the existing Three-class Boeing  777-300ER.  Commences 1st June 2016.

Data: Airlineroute

It seems the reach of Emirates Airbus A380 continues to expand wherever the airline touches it its fleet. For one airport who extended their runway for long distance and super heavy aircraft – there must some relief that Emirates will operate an A380 to that airport now.

For the other airports – it’s more capacity to feed into the fortress hub of Dubai, and send passengers onto other destinations.
