Whilst Qatar Airways dillies and dallies over its A320neo order – other airlines have gone ahead and taken delivery of their first A320neo aircraft.
First up was Lufthansa – and now one of the biggest airline that has ordered A320neo aircraft takes delivery of their first A320neo.
Step forward IndiGo of India.

As well as being the second operator of the Airbus A320neo family, the airline is the first carrier in Asia to operate the type.
How big is the order that IndiGo has with Airbus? It’s big:~
- 250 Airbus A320neo
- 180 Airbus A321neo
Total: 430 A320neo family planes
430 aircraft is one hell of a sized order.
Indigo hasn’t been shy with its previous Airbus A320ceo orders, with an order for 100 aircraft in the past.
As for the use of A320neo aircraft – it seems expansion is the name of the game, with Aditya Ghosh, President of IndiGo, stating:
“The A320neo aircraft will enable us to continue to offer affordable air transportation and a new flying experience for our customers. The fuel efficient aircraft will be part of a new phase of our growth and will enable us to offer more regional and international destinations at the best price”
So, lots of prospects ahead for the A320neo as IndiGo takes delivery of aircraft number one from their orders. Only another 429 frames to be delivered…
