The more they stay the same.
Good morning from Digbeth Coach station in the heart of the Irish wiarter in Birmingham.
Well – good is a lie, but it’s a term that will suffice.
Sometimes, I don’t think the stressful parts of my trips aren’t the flying part – it’s the part getting to the airport that can be more stressful than not.
Take this morning so far
– Uber decided to have nothing avalible, then surged. At those options, I’m forced into a descison – either a minicab or a black cab. So….
And after that rush, I turn up at the coach station to find the chariot taking me to Manchester this morning is running 20 minutes late.
Joy.
I wish the UK had a 24 hour rail network some nights.
Thankfully, I’m not on the first flight out to Heathrow – so there is some breathing room.
But I’d really prefer not to worry about breathing room when travelling, and things to just work.
Nothing like the joy of travel.

Gotta say, I’ve been to the UK three or four times and it’s been frustrating every time in terms of transportation infrastructure. Nothing – whether the Tube, buses, intercity trains, or airports – works as efficiently as on much of the continent. Even with a language barrier travel is easier in much of continental Europe. And to top it all off it’s almost invariably more expensive in the UK.
