KLM to operate services to Dublin

21/06/2016 by Kevincm

It seems KLM is filling an obvious blank in its network, with the airline to operatre its own route between Amsterdam-Schipol and Dublin, Ireland.

KLM will operate two flights a day between the two cities, timed as follows:

Amsterdam to Dublin
KL935 DEPART AMS 12:00 ARRIVE DUB 12:40
KL939 DEPART AMS 21:20 ARRIVE DUB 22:00

Amsterdam to Dublin
KL932 DEPART DUB 05:55 ARRIVE AMS 08:30
KL936 DEPART DUB 13:15 ARRIVE AMS 15:50

Commences: 30th October 2016
Booked Equipment: Embraer 190
Data: KLM.

Currently, flights between the Irish and Nederlands are currently operated by Aer Lingus in a code-share operation, which has happily existed for many a year.

It seems that balance has been disturbed with the take over of Aer Lingus by IAG with KLM thinking about its future strategies.

KLM’s CEO – Pieter Elbers – seems happy with this new route, stating:

Improvement in our results has been translated into growth in KLM network. Having introduced a record number of new destinations in the summer of 2016, the new destination Dublin is another proof of KLM keeping on investing in its network to offer customers an ever-broader range of destinations

Whilst the use of an Embraer E-190 isn’t exactly ground breaking for this route, it’s a start to see if KLM can drive its own traffic between Amsterdam and Dublin.
