The re-fit of the new seat will be conducted during 2018, with the entire fleet being processed at that point.
Currently, the new World Business Class seat is fitted to KLM’s Boeing 777-200 and Boeing 747-400 fleet.
Refit work is underway on the Boeing 777-300ER fleet, whilst the Boeing 787 fleet will have the World Business Class cabin delivered from new.
By the end of 2018, the entire fleet will be fitted with the World Business Class interior.
The seats themselves are based on the Zodiac Circus seat – that has been widely deployed on other airlines. They are accompanied with an IFE system providing content in up to tweleve languages.
It’s great to see investment in product – and a sign that we’ll see some of these plane for some years to come.
For now, if you want to fly the “new” World Business Class products, stick to the 787s, 777-200s and 747s. Refits do take time – they always do – but at least the investment is being made to bring it to as much of the fleet as possible, bringing a uniform passenger experience across the fleet.
That’s no bad thing at all.
