Well, it’s been a long time coming, but Transport for London’s Night Tube will begin tonight (19th August).

The Night Tube network will initially comprise of two lines:
- The Central Line from Ealing Broadway, through Central London, and as far as Loughton or Hainault. Operates every 10 minutes between White City and Leytonstone and approximately every 20 minutes between Ealing Broadway to White City and Leytonstone to Loughton/ Hainault
- The Victoria Line operating the full length of the line from Brixton, through Central London, through to Walthamstow Central every 10 minutes
Other lines are due to open in due course overnight. These include the Jubilee line, parts of the Northern Line and parts of the Piccadilly Line connecting Heathrow Terminal 5 with Central London.
The next additional services will go into operation in the autumn.
Night Tube services will operate on Friday/Saturday and Saturday/Sunday nights, and will be subject to standard off peak fares. Those with One Day Travel Card are valid on the day of issue up until 04:30 the following day.
Oyster and Contactless fare capping will also be applied too.
To support the extra tube services, there will be additional night buses introduced, as well as night taxi ranks at key stations on the Night Tube network. These are listed on the Transport for London page.
For those who wish to experience London at night – and not worry about the cost of how much a taxi is going to bankrupt them by, the arrival of the Night Tube cannot come soon enough.
For those seeking early morning or late night connections to and from Heathrow to Central London, there will be a wait for now – until the second phase of the service launches.
