There seems to be union disagreements with Alitalia, with the union employees due to go out on strike on the 22nd September 2016 for 24 hours.
If you are planning to fly, first check with Alitalia to see if your flight is actually operating or not.
For any passenger who is meant to be travelling on the 22nd September, there are lots of options open to you:
- Rebooking: Free re-booking, up until the 30th November in the same booking class or the next available booking class. Travel must be completed within the ticket validity. The original duration of stay may be preserved.
- Re-routing: As above. Same origin and destination points apply.
- Change of origin/destination: Value of your current ticket (be it the full or partial value) can be used as credit to buy new Alitalia tickets.
- Full Refund: Refunds will be processed for any unused coupons in your itineraries
- Millemiglia Award Tickets: You’ll be protected onto other Alitalia award classes, subject to space available. Mileage refund available.
As usual with events like these: Check with your airline first to see if what is cancelled and what is operating.
