Norwegian’s next big destination: Singapore

20/04/2017 by Kevincm

With all the routes that have been added from London Gatwick to the USA, Norwegian Air Shuttle has a new target on its list of destinations to serve.

Step forward: Singapore.

Services kick off on 28th September 2017,  with Norwegian to operate a 4 times a week service between London Gatwick and Singapore Changi Airport on a four times a week schedule.

The timetable looks like this:

London Gatwick to Singapore Changi
DI7407 DEPART LGW 10:30 ARRIVE SIN 06:15+1 Mondays, Thursdays
DI7409 DPEART LGW 22:30 ARRIVE SIN 18:15+1 Tuesdays, Saturdays

Singapore Changi to London Gatwick
DI7408 DEPART SIN 08:50 ARRIVE LGW 15:30 Tuesdays and Fridays
DI7410 DEPART SIN 23:40 ARRIVE LGW 06:20+1 Wednesdays and Sundays

Commences 28th Septmber from London Gatwick Airport, one day later from Singapore
Booked Equipment: Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner.

Norwegian Air Shuttle will be using a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, configured with 344 seats, split into 35 Premium Seats and 309 Economy seats.

Lead in prices start at £179 each way in the economy cabin, whilst premium fares start at £699 one way – which includes access to the No1 Lounge, food and luggage.

Flights will be operated by Norwegian UK – the UK based subsidiary of Norwegian Air Shuttle.

Connectivity is the name of the game as we all know. With Norwegian now looking beyond the USA, destinations east are the next logical conclusion for the airline as it continues to increase its operations at Gatwick.

The four-day a week operation won’t be scaring Singapore Airlines or British Airways yet – but it will send a message loud and clear that the European low-cost carriers are on the way.

Currently, Singapore-based Scoot preparing to enter the market with its Singapore to Athens service, with Air Asia still re-considering entering the European market.

Expect an appropriate response from these two players in due time….
