The new service will operate three times weekly, based on the following timetable:

KL0877 DEPART AMS 13:00 ARRIVE BOM 01:55+1 Mondays ,Thursdays and Sundays
KL0878 DEPART BOM 04:00 ARRIVE AMS 08:45 Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays

Commences: 29th October 2017
Booked Equipment: Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner
Data: KLM

KLM will be using a Boeing787-9 on the route, configured with:

  • 30 World Business Class Seats
  • 45 Economy Comfort Seats
  • 219 Economy Class seats

The service will be operated in conjunction with Jet Airways who operate a daily service between Mumbai and Amsterdam.

Currently, Jet Airways and KLM operate combined 21 flights a week between Amsterdam and India. For the winter season, more flights will be operating – with 31 flights a week, covering Amsterdam to Bangalore, Mumbai and Delhi.

KLM President & CEO, Pieter Elbers states with the launch of the route

“This latest addition will bring the total number of direct flights between the Netherlands and India next winter to 31 flights a week. This will be a great stimulus for ties between the two countries.“

The timing of the flights should be good for those connecting at Amsterdam, allowing easy connections to European and North American destinations.  Meanwhile at Mumbai, there will be ability to connect with Jet Airways flights to major cities such as Pune and Hyderabad.

And connections as we all know is the name of the game. Whilst three flights a week represents cautious launch, there is still plenty of codeshare flights operated by Jet Airways.

What will be interesting to watch if KLM scales up this service in the long term, and if the market can handle 14 flights a week between Amsterdam and Mumbai.
