Swiss recently became the first carrier in the world to operate both variants of the Bombardier CSeries – with the airline taking delivering of its first CS300 aircraft.
The first CS300 for Swiss will be based at Geneva, operating from Swiss’s West Switzerland base. Whilst not the first operator of the CS300 (Air Baltic was the first operator of the type), Swiss was the launch operator of CSeries and CS100.
Swiss’s CS300 will have 20 more seats (four more rows) compared to the CS100 – allowing for more passengers to be carried compared to the CS100.
Thomas Klühr, SWISS’s Chief Executive Officer states
“With its 20 additional seats, this second model in the C Series family ideally complements our current aircraft fleet, and gives us an optimal equipment mix for our European short- and medium-haul services. Our first CS300 will be initially stationed in Geneva, where its superior comfort credentials will be excellently suited to this premium travel market
In fact, our entire Geneva-based fleet will soon consist solely of Bombardier C Series aircraft.”
The type will enter commercial service on the 1st June 2017, operating a flight between Geneva and London Heathrow
Bombardier have so far delivered 12 CSeries aircraft – 9 to Swiss (8 CS100 and 1 CS300) and 3 to airBaltic (CS300), with total orders for 360 aircraft.
