Editors note: I’m doing a bit of back-fill at the moment after a heavy few days in the office. It’s not going to let up in the next few weeks, so posts may be down on normal. My apologies if you’ve missed my posts over the past few days.
IHG have begun their latest round of “Accelerate”… or rather a very much paired down version of it for autumn/winter 2018.
And to be frank – it’s not a lot to be getting excited about.
The offer is two-fold
- A standard offer – where you earn double points on every stay, starting with the second stay, to yield up to 15,000 bonus points.
- A customised offer – My offer was an unexciting stay two weekends (including a Saturday night), get 8,400 points
Is it worth changing hotel stays for this? For me – not really to be honest. There’s nothing here that’s going to drive my spend unless I need to be at a location where there’s an IHG hotel. However, it’s worth checking as different people will have different custom goals.
And that could yield some decent numbers.
I’m not a great follower of hotel promotions, namely due to the rates I’m on (be it conference rates where the earnings are pitiful, or I’m just being very tight with cash – which can make promotions like this more effort than they are worth).
And yes – it’s a lot less generous than previous Accelerate offers. But it seems the market is shifting towards the hoteliers deciding to be less generous with points now they have you hook, line and sinker.
Who knows – maybe next quarter, there’ll be something exciting.
