Exploring Boston
Trips like these – especially the four days in-and-out trips- are very much of how much time you don’t get to do things. And there’s a lot to do in Boston. Except you need a car to really get the best of it.
Sadly, with both limited time and resource, I was limited to the central parts of Boston
And that suited me. Least of all, I needed a new shirt (thanks to John) I also needed to play Pokemon Go, and I needed a coffee in me, I took the train into town and exited to see this sign.
Wait. Is this a Sunday in Birmingham, or a Sunday in Boston?
Especially where I ended up for a shirt. Sure, I could have gone to Ross or Target – but guess where I ended up? Primark.
Because darlings, I’m a Primarni wearer.
Nope. Not suitable business-wear. Although I know of people who would argue it is.
With two shirts and no emergency $1 thongs, I was on way again. The next stop was to explore Boston Common and Public Park. Least of all someone told me to say hi to the Ducklings.
I don’t do thongs people. Sorry to disappoint you all.

And besides – parks are great for playing Pokemon Go – even if you’re raiding for a Magikarp.
I also headed towards a place where everyone allegedly knows your name
And they’re always glad you came.
Or you can have some of Daddy’s Fried Dough. Because Who’s your Daddy?
Heading back from the ducklings, I noticed a Mewtwo raid was kicking off. My record on Legendary Pokemon away from home is … awful to be honest, but what the hell.
Like Ash Ketchum, I wanted to be the very best. Like no-one ever was.
For those who play Pokemon Go, we know that Raiding is one the big things that have changed the game in the last year – it’s gone from an individual activity to an activity where you need serious numbers to take down some of the very powerful Pokemon.
And we did that – we took down Mewtwo.
Of course – that’s half the battle – the other half I to catch it. And with minimal PokeBalls, it was a challenge. And a hard one.
With my last ball – I caught it.
With that – I filled the last spot in my Kanto Pokedex – 151 out of 151. For some, who do Ex-Raids, they would had filled their ‘dexs ages ago this is nothing. For me – I actually completed a Pokedex.
I’ve just got to work on JohtoDex (with Herracros missing as well as Smergle). Let’s not talk about HoennDex which is missing a fair bit – as my legendary catching skills are awful.
With the Pokedex filled a bit more, I headed to Starbucks to 1) do some writing and 2) drink coffee. Alas, the staff misfiled my coffee, with a 10-minute wait to be noticed.
Sigh
I spent the afternoon writing up the Flying Lab on the phone and prepared a few things in the background for the next few days.
Looking back – the time I spent in Boston felt like a normal Saturday/Sunday in Birmingham to me. And that’s not a bad thing in any sense – a working routine is a wonderful thing to have
Even if I’m 3000+ miles from home. Yes, I’m a creature of habit – and whilst some moan at that – I’m not arguing. Comforts are wonderful things
But I noticed time was ebbing away. The fun part of this trip was fast coming to an end – it was time to switch into pro mode as I there was a welcome reception to show my face at the Boston Conference and Exhibition Centre.
How does this meet any safety standard in the USA?
