Scoot of Singapore has become the latest Airbus A321neo operator, with the airline flying the type into service.
Scoot has taken delivery of its first three Airbus A321neo aircraft. These aircraft have been leased from BOC Aviation, and have entered service
Those of you who are looking for a comfortable experience should look away now, with the aircraft configured in Airbus Cabin Flex configuration – allowing for 236 passengers in a single class layout, for segments that could last up to six hours.
The A321neo is a member of the A320neo Family, of which Scoot has ordered a total of 39 aircraft from Airbus (including six A321neos) and is acquiring another 10 A321neos under lease agreements.
Their new aircraft are powered by Pratt & Whitney PW1100G engines and feature sharklets – as well as other generational improvements that reduce fuel consumption by 20% per seat. In terms of operational support, all of Scoot’s A320neo Family aircraft will be supported by Airbus Services under a Flight Hour Services Tailored Support Package covering component availability and repair, as well as fleet technical management.
Scoot of Singapore is the low-cost subsidiary of Singapore Airlines, operating on routes out of the Singapore hub across Asia and beyond.
Cabin Flex?
Airbus Cabin Flex rolls in a number of changes to the A321neo to optimise the aircraft to carry up to 240 passengers. It also features changes to the door layout to allow for evacuation.
The most visible modifications are a new rear section and a modified passenger door configuration, where the door located forward of the wing is removed and new overwing emergency exits in the centre section are introduced.
