It’s King Charles III’s Coronation day, and as the United Kingdom heads into another three-day weekend, it’s time to look back at what has caught my eye this week.
Yes, it’s Last Week at Economy Class and Beyond.
Happy and Glorious
Back in the Groove
We’ve pushed out the final five parts of the trip report this week, wrapping up this adventure.
- Returning to the wonderful Chicago O’Hare Terminal 5
- British Airways Terraces Lounge, Chicago T5
- BA296 Chicago to London Heathrow (WORLD TRAVELLER PLUS/Premium Economy)
- Welcome back to the United Kingdom
Travel Technology
Not one, but two travel technology features this week.
- The one thing I brought, before I checked my luggage in… – AirTags have their pluses and minuses…
- TRAVEL TECHNOLOGY: The Xiaomi Mii Band 7 – Worth spending the extra? – Why did the AMOLED Screen have to pop, and then rip off?
Seating
- Safran Vue Business Class Single-Aisle seat launches with flydubai – A new seat for flydubai’s longer range services
- Etihad reveals its Boeing 787 interiors upgrade for upcoming aircraft – Collins Aerospace getting the nod for both business and economy class.
- IndiGo deploys Recaro’s BL3710 seats on its new Airbus A321neo – Recaro comfort on the A321neo
Passenger Experience
- JetBlue signs Athletic Brewery to supply Non-Alcoholic Beer in the air – Non-Alcholic beer me.
- Panasonic Avionics to partner with HEAR360 to bring Spatial Audio to the air – I’m interested in “how” this sounds in person.
Routes and Networks
- Emirates and Etihad sign an interline agreement – What’s the term that came to mind when I saw this? Ah yes. “The enemy of my enemy is my friend”.
- SAS to return to Bangkok for Winter 2023 – Winter warmth from SAS
- Norse Atlantic Airways plots services to the Caribbean and Thailand – And Norse Atlantic has also entered the chat.
Sustainability in the air
- United Airlines plans to triple Sustainable Air Fuel usage – More SAF out of SFO
Pretty Pictures
Next Week
With the trip report out of the way, we’re back in a much more familiar space next week, as we keep an eye on the headlines.
And on top of that – it’s EUROVISION SONG CONTEST WEEK. We’ll be on Twitter (or the remains of it) delivering our best sarcasm, insight and thoughts on this year’s entries (and I’ve been listening to them. We’ll have a Eurovision post up on Sunday if you’re bad).
In the background, we are starting to prepare our Aircraft Interiors Expo coverage as we get ready to pound the halls of the Hamburg Messe. I’ve launched my Connect at AIX2023 page too, if you are wanting to meet during the event.
Until we meet again, enjoy the long weekend if you have it. If not, enjoy the week.
And Happy Landings.
