For those who fly Cathay Pacific, there’s some good news if they want to be connected in the air, especially in the premium classes or in the upper echelons of their frequent flyer programme.
Passengers travelling in First or Business class onboard connected Cathay Pacific aircraft can now enjoy complimentary Wi-Fi service on their flight. Cathay Pacific has been providing complimentary Wi-Fi services to First class customers since 2022. Following successful trials on selected flights, the airline has now extended complimentary Wi-Fi to Business class customers on all connected aircraft, and will be further extending it to Cathay Diamond members travelling in all cabins in November this year.
Those of you who connect on for the cocomplimentary Wi-Fi service can enjoy the same experience as paid Wi-Fi, enabling them to check emails, browse the internet, stream audio, use social media and messaging apps, and access cloud storage services and other professional applications.
This is limited to one device at a time, and can switched between devices at any time during their flight.

Installation
According to the airline, over 90% of Cathay Pacific’s fleet is already equipped with Wi-Fi, including all long-haul aircraft.
The airline plans to extend connectivity across its entire fleet by mid-2025.
A nice plus… if it works
For those who need to be connected in the air, this is wonderful. Your writer tried this a few weeks ago when travelling between Hong Kong and Singapore with Cathay Pacific aboard an Airbus A350-900
That is, if the connectivity works. The interface is pretty standard, with the various offerings available:
Like most offerings, you scroll across to the free offering.
At the presumed point, select free and enter your seat number and name. And in theory…
This is wonderful. However, I couldn’t seem to get any data at all during the flight. This is a shame, as it would have been nice to be connected during the flight, as I had plenty of content to share.
I suspect my phone would have preferred to charge in peace and quiet – thankfully there’s a charging port in the seat.
But if you want a justification for a business class ticket with Cathay Pacific to work through the fight or remain connected – free high quality wifi is always a good option
