For those flying on board IndiGo’s Airbus A321XLRs, there’s good news with the airline partnering with Bluebox Aviation Systems.

Together, they plan to offer a next-generation digital in-flight experience.
Powered by Blueview, Bluebox’s modular digital services platform, the system will be integrated as a line-fit solution on Airbus’ Open Software Platform (OSP) on IndiGo’s upcoming A321XLR fleet.
The Airbus OPS platform allows providers to deliver content, service and so on, on hardware installed by Airbus at the factory. Thus, no retrofit is needed, and it can be enabled on-delivery. IndiGo will be the first Indian airline to take advantage of this platform,
IndiGo customers on the A321XLR will be able to enjoy a wide range of digital services directly on their personal devices, including:
- A rich library of in-flight entertainment (IFE), featuring movies, TV, audio and games
- An interactive moving map for real-time flight tracking
- An engaging graphical user interface (GUI) reflecting IndiGo’s brand
- Access to digital dining menus
Kevin Clark, CEO, Bluebox.
“OSP allows airlines to harness powerful, integrated software environments as standard,”
“With Blueview, IndiGo will be able to offer passengers a seamless and engaging digital experience immediately, with the capability to evolve with passenger demands over the coming years.”
Pieter Elbers, Chief Executive Officer, IndiGo.
“We are delighted to offer engaging inflight entertainment on our A321XLR fleet, in partnership with Bluebox, which our customers will be able to experience on their own personal electronic devices (PEDs),”
“By enabling access to a wide range of entertainment on their personal devices – including popular Indian and Hollywood films, TV shows, games, anime and animated series – we are confident that this solution adds significant value to our customers’ onboard experience, making it more enjoyable.”
A bigger requirement
With Airbus A321XLRs expected to stay in the air for longer segments, providing some sort of in-flight entertainment to passengers will be a big tick in the box to be done. IndiGo wants to utilise the Airbus’s OSP platform along with BlueView, allowing passengers to access content through their personal devices.
For these longer missions, having a rounded out passenger experience will be important – and that does include the use of IFE. With Bluebox using the in-built Airbus Open Service Platform to deliver it, this should deliver a good experience to the passenger screen.
