08/09/2012 by Kevincm

It's Saturday again, so it's time to place your chair back straight, your seatbelt on and your luggage stowed in the overhead bin as Air Canada introduce safety aboard their Airbus A319's (replace A319's with any other aircraft in their fleet almost for the same video with different exits and plane graphic) Another safety video again next week! … [Read more...]

Which airline would charge for a booking app? … Oh Hello there Ryanair…

07/09/2012 by Kevincm

I was doing my regular sweep of the Apple Store for fun things when I noticed that Ryanair now has a iPhone booking app. With a traditional Ryanair sting in the tail: So let's see - nearly every other airline who publishes an app for phone use gives it away. Of course Ryanair will happily fleece you £2.49 for the privilege of an app that has minimal use. This from … [Read more...]

Things get slowly worse for the 3rd Lufthansa strike – 1200 flights now affected

06/09/2012 by Kevincm

The trouble between the UFO Union and Lufthansa deepens with an estimated 1200 flights now up for the chop in the current wave of industrial action. With 80% of cabin crew now striking, this is putting Lufthansa in a position where it has to rely on codeshares, regional partners and its sister airlines to support it (Austrian, Swiss and to a point - Brussels … [Read more...]

Speaking of allocated seating – the joy of codeshares… (and how to allocate seating on AA)

05/09/2012 by Kevincm

As I'm wrapping up from the last trip report (as yes, the BA4 flight is being written up as this is going live), my future flying attentions are moving to my next trip back to Chicago. Now I'm not saying what dates or anything, but as you all can guess - my loyalty to Star Alliance is a bit more limited than it was in the past with a different airline has been looking after … [Read more...]

EasyJet to go full allocated seating

05/09/2012 by Kevincm

It seems that EasyJet is angling towards a more "grown up" audience as the airline has decided to to introduce allocated seating throughout its network. EasyJet says this is to improve customer satisfaction and attract more passengers. Whilst pre-booking seats is optional (for example, if you're checking in, you won't pay for a seat assignment), for those who have a seat … [Read more...]

05/09/2012 by Kevincm

It what is fast descending into what can be described as a farce, there are  rumblings that the new Berlin Brandenburg Airport has now has its opening  delayed to OCTOBER 2013 instead of the 17th Mach 2013 that was stated after the previous botched opening attempt. The first date of 30th October 2011 for opening was pushed back in 2010. The second date of 3rd June 2012 … [Read more...]
