BMI Regional to launch Newcastle to Brussels

23/10/2013 by Kevincm

BMI Regional (the spin-off of the regional operation from the old "BMI") seems to be trying new routes out, with the announcement of a new UK regional route connecting Newcastle-Upon-Tyne to Brussels National Airport. The airline will have a monopoly on the route as the first operator, and will commence services from 3rd March 2014. The service will operate double-daily … [Read more...]

A Dreamliner, a luggage loading truck and a five hour delay…

22/10/2013 by Kevincm

Good evening from London Heathrow airport... Where I'm writing from as I've just pulled in... A good 5 hours late. data: flightaware Why? A luggage loading truck decided to bang the Dreamliner I was on - resulting in a titanium strip being removed, lots of discussions between London, Toronto and Seattle before the plane was released. So there was nothing that … [Read more...]

Update: bag found, AA split the bags up…

21/10/2013 by Kevincm

Good evening from Toronto Pearson departures where things have been... A bit fraught. To put it politely. American Airlines didn't help by splitting the bags over two flights.   The second bag turning up at Toronto. Still... All is reasonable now. Food, bubbles and a few other bits before a special flight to Heathrow. Why special? One word: Dreamliner More … [Read more...]

And American Airlines now “lose/delay” a bag too…

21/10/2013 by Kevincm

After busting one of my bags earlier in this trip, it seems  American Airlines have now managed to lose a bag too. This picture is upside down. It only shows on bag though (My repairs are holding still - which is nice).... It seems that the bag has been placed on the later flight to Chicago at least. Whilst I could consider abandoning the bag and leaving to the … [Read more...]

Homeward bound part 1

21/10/2013 by Kevincm

After a not so great weekend and the Hyatt Regency O'Hare (more on that in the trip report... Suffice to say there will be limited nice words in it about that hotel), it's time to turn tail and head for home. So hello from the American Airlines lounge at the far end of G gates.... ( which had been refurbished so it looks a nice lounge now). More from the next … [Read more...]

Safety Video Saturday – American Airlines (2012)

19/10/2013 by Kevincm

It's Saturday again, so it's time to stow your luggage in the overhead locker (making sure the airline doesn't wreck it), stow your tray table and bring your seat into the upright position as we go to this week's safety video. And because I've had to watch it 3 times week (and 4 manual demonstrations too), one more time won't hurt with American Airlines demonstrating their … [Read more...]

Ventra in Chicago… Hmm… It could work for the visitor…

18/10/2013 by Kevincm

One of the things that tend to happen when I travel is I get a local transit card. Now, in the past Chicago had a lovely plastic fare card system that made some sense, but this seems to be have swept away with their new ticketing system called "Ventra" Ventra Card - Note the MasterCard Debit Logo too. The idea behind Ventura seems simple, with the option to pay … [Read more...]
