It seems someone has turned up the aircon down below as Air India have finally accepted delivery of its first Boeing 787.

With the delivery of Air India’s first 787, they become the 5th operator of the aircraft (when at some points they were meant to be the 2nd customer to have the Dreamliner).
What’s taken so long then? It all sadly comes down to money with a four month delivery over the issue of compensation for schedule delays.
The aircraft will be flying from Boeing’s South Carolina facility to New Delhi on Friday, configured with 18 business and 238 economy seats.
Air India have a total of 27 787’s on order.
For both sides, it’s a welcome end to the dispute over compensation now and both sides can get on with delivering the plane and getting passengers sat on the plane earning Air India money.
For those who have time, head to http://www.newairplane.com/787/delivery-airline/#/en/ain/ where Boeing shows off its latest delivery. Meanwhile Live from a Lounge has great coverage on the growing pains of the AI 787’s as well coverage on the delivery on the first bird.
So from my math – I think it’s United who are the next airline to get the 787’s…
