German airport strike action ahead

26/03/2014 by Kevincm

Coming up tomorrow unless a last ditch compromise comes up is a massive strike in German Airports, with a big impact expected by the trade union ver.di

Frankfurt is expected to be hit badly, with other German airports – Munich, Cologne, Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Hannover and Stuttgart are expected to join the walkout.

The walkout is due to take place during the morning shift – from 03:30CET to 14:30CET

As can be expected, Lufthansa and Germanwings will take the brunt of the strike, along with Air Berlin.

  • Lufthansa Group airlines (Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Lufthansa AG and Swiss International Airlines)  with flights operating to, from or via Frankfurt, Munich, Cologne, Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Hannover and Stuttgart are eligible for rebooking as per http://www.lufthansa.com/de/en/Travel-information
  • Air Berlin is preparing for cancellations and delays
  • United has raised an exemption policy

Other airlines have yet to announce their intentions, although delays and cancellations will be on the cards – especially if the stoppages are going to be as big as the union is making out to be.

Plan accordingly….
