For those of you who are setting off on travels today, it could be wise to check before you travel as UK travel will be disrupted today due to high winds in the North of England and Scotland – with reports of 100 mile per hour gusts.
At the time of writing (08:00GMT),9th January :
- ScotRail has suspended the majority of its services – See http://www.journeycheck.com/firstscotrail. Some services are expected to resume shortly, with very limited operations expected until inspections are completed.
- Services between England and Scotland by rail will be subject to short-notice cancellations. See http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/service_disruptions/today.aspx
- British Airways are reporting disruptions to/from Aberdeen, Glasgow and Edinburgh services http://www.britishairways.com/travel/flightops/public/en_gb?p_faqid=5195
- Glasgow airport is largely unaffected, Edinburgh airport is reporting cancellations
