It seems each time I write about France, there’s normally a strike or protest going on. Well, it seems that the unions supporting the French Rail workers are going out on strike.
All the major unions – CGT, Unsa, Sud and CFDT – are all heading out on strike.
The strike is due to run from 25h April 2016 from 19:00, through the 26th April, with services resuming on at 08:00 on Wednesday 2016, with different unions striking at different times
SNCF (the national operator of trains in France) is predicting the following changes:
26th April
- TGV: 1 train will operate out of 2 trains
- Intercity: 1 train will operate out of 3
- Transilien: 1 train will operate out of 2
- TER: 4 trains will operate out of 10 trains
April 27 servcies will slowly resume to normal levels.
International services do not seems to be affected, with Eurostar not posting any notices, and Thalys are expecting to run services as normal
It goes without saying – expect short notice cancellations, packed train services and a reduced train service.
