So we’re at that point where I’m now past the 5000 post marker, and going into the distance.
So that means its time to give something away.
So I need 5000 of something to give away. It can’t be luggage tags (the postal cost will bankrupt me) or Remove before Flight Keyrings (that’ll double bankrupt me), or the entire contents of the Boeing and Airbus shops (maybe pencils if you’re lucky).
So what can I give away…. I know… AVIOS. Because lets face it – you’re here for the miles aren’t you?
I know you want those tasty and free Avios. Go on. Admit it…
So 5000 Avios. What can that get you? Well, a short-haul flight somewhere (with change). Or you can put it to a bigger reward.
What have I done with my Avios?
They’ve taken me to Hamburg – a lot of times when the revenue fares were £500 return, from Chicago to Washington DC when the cash prices was too rich ,to Europe to kick start some long haul adventures and even to Hong Kong aboard Cathay Pacific.
So to enter my “I wrote 5000 posts and all I got were 5000 Avios points” draw, simply tell me
What would you do with 5000 Avios?

I will combine these 5,000 Avois with my current balance to take my step-children to Scotland to meet Nessie!
Will use 4500 points for shorthaul Johannesburg to Victoria Falls (best cpp value afaik).
Will throw away the 500 points (not really, since I have other BA Avios balance to combine it with).
I would fly from Colombo to Male on Sri Lankan.
I’d use it on a short-haul between Hong Kong and Taipei!
I’d use it to travel to Europe for our anniversary!
I have a trip planned in Japan next April. 5k avios will take care if one shorthaul trip on JAL between Tokyo and Osaka. thanks in advance!
I would use the 5k miles to top off my account and book a trip to Hawaii. (12,500 miles)
It would contribute to my next trip to Hong Kong, my favourite place in the world!
If i won 5,000 Avios……
First of all I would be SO pumped and I’d probably call my wife freaking out that I won.
Second of all I would use them for a one way from Johannesburg to Victoria falls as the culminating part of my 2 year anniversary vacation!
I would use them for a short-haul flight in Europe this summer.
I will use them for part of a short hop from London, possibly during my holidays trip to Europe.
I would use it with combination with my current balance to get my wife and myself from Thailand to Chicago over the Christmas:)
I will combine these 5k Avois with my current balance for this coming fall trip.

I would fly from Lima to Cusco!
Would top off my BA account to keep it active, since I haven’t been able to use any miles for the past two years on AA metal due to lack of saver award space. Keep thinking some day I’ll find something. Dreamers can dream!
Put it towards a shorthaul on Alaska Airlines!
If I win, I can use them on Cathay Pacific JFK to YVR 12500 avios or less with cash + points
I’d transfer to AA for a short haul flight to visit friends in DC from Boston.
LHR-PRG one way 4500 Avios plus, I think £17 fee in economy on BA. My regular route -no anniversary, sick relative, lifetime dream but I’d be happy to win nonetheless.
It would be a toss up between YYZ to NYC or LHR to AMS! A coin flip would occur!
Add them to the pittance I have left over from my last trip and use them as a one-way positioning flight later this year.. (I live in the USA, so I need at least 7,500.)
I will use to fly BA non-stop from BIO-LHR
I would use the 5000 Avios to add to my balance and this would help me afford a future DFW-MEX trip I have planned.
Use it for a shorthaul within Asia!
would use them to take my niece to cusco!
Something nice and simple for me. I love long weekend trips to Toronto from NYC to get my Canto food fix so the 5k avios will be perfect.
I’d use 5000 Avois towards my next 241 award. This year’s is to CPT in Club and First. 😀
I wouldn’t say no to the Tesco Value Chocolate either!
Congrats on 5000 posts!
If I won 5000 Avios I would take my wife to Xiamen, China. Her ancestors are from there and she has never been. It would be wonderful to go there and clean the tombs of her ancestors.
I would combine them with additional points to fly my wife and I to the UK
If I won 5000 avios , would add them to my planned trip to nyc
Dearest EC&B (nee GIFE),
I am planning a points and miles trip to end all points and miles trips for next summer. A last hurrah, if you will, before my wife and I consider upending our happy little lives. To do so in the way I want to do so, I need about 2,000,000 miles and points, of which some are avios. I will use them for PVG-NRT in JAL business, an excellent use for them if I do say. So help a brother out, Kevin, help a brother out
If I won 5000 Avios I would use it to get from GLA to LHR, as I booked LHR – DXB – GLA to save £180!!
Well done on 5000 post.
I would upgrade my short haul flight to Zurich in a couple of weeks to Club Europe, solely so that I can hit the Galleries lounge and demolish at least 4 of the BA bacon rolls. #Avioswellspent.
We have a Spain and Portugal trip planned next summer. 5000 Avios would get one of us from Madrid to Lisbon.
I would fly TPE to HKG on CX 🙂
I’m living in Dublin so would use it for the short hop over to get back to London for the weekend
I will use the miles to fly north or west to wherever it is far cooler than midsummer hot as heck Houston.
Would top off my account to treat my sister with a trip to Japan. 🙂
They would help take my wife and I to Madrid for the Xmas markets this year. Planning to take the Iberia Express flight from BHX-MAD and need some avios to top up my account.
I will use them to go from Miami to Key West next year
I would take my partner down to london . Love th blog. Best Florian
I would use the points towards saving for a 241 to LAX for 2018.
I would use it for short haul in Europe
I would buy 6 g&t s on board on my way to LHR:)
It’ll go towards a wee trip from Belfast to London..
I’d add them to my DUB-YVR trip in September, and hopefully use them on a hop from Vancouver to Seattle
I’d use them for a shorthaul positioning flight. Most likely CPH.
