I think we’ve all ran into this at least once in our travels – when we book a window seats, and got no window.
What do you do?
In the past, I’ve leaned back or leaned forward. But Japanese Twitter user @kooo_TmS_suke may have accidental hit on a solution.
It seems his seat-mate wasn’t happy there was no window and told the flight attendant.
The flight attendant went way – and this popped out.

A piece of paper taped to the plane wall? Nope. Look again – it’s a window with clouds in it.

Well it beats nothing to look at.
There are situations where window seat views without windows are a live thing – one need only look as far Emirates and their updated Boeing 777-300ER cabins with the first class seats with its own windows… that’s a screen.
Sadly of course, these seem to tailored to the premium market.
There a lot of people who fly who love a window view (your writer included), so it’s important to use tools like SeatGuru, SeatExpert, Expert Flyer and so on to judge if your window seat has a window.
But as a creative solution, I’ve seen worse. A lot worse.
