The airline plans to add a seventh daily flight to New York-JFK (in collaboration with its joint venture partner Delta Air Lines) – an increase of 11% compared to summer 2023.

Combined, the two airlines will offer 10 flights a day between London and New York.

Meanwhile, up the East Coast, Virgin Atlantic will add a second daily flight to Boston. Complimented with the Delta Air Lines flight, this will result in three flights a day being operated.

These new services complement the airline’s recent announcements of increasing Miami services from 11 flights per week to twice daily year-round and a new seasonal summer service from Manchester to Las Vegas.

On both of these new flights, passengers will be e flying on the airline’s newest aircraft, the A330-900neo, and A350-1000, increasing the number of Upper and Premium seats by 23%. Upper-Class passengers looking to treat themselves can also benefit from booking the A330-900neo innovative Retreat Suite, which comprises of two spacious exclusive suites at the front of the Upper Class cabin. Elsewhere, passengers travelling with Joint Venture partner Delta will be able to enjoy its new and enhanced Delta One product.

Virgin Atlantic’s enhanced schedule will offer record departures to the USA with an average of 27 daily departures to popular destinations including Atlanta, Los Angeles, Miami, Orlando, San Francisco, Seattle, Tampa and Washington DC.

Juha Jarvinen, Chief Commercial Officer, Virgin Atlantic, commented;

“We’re excited to announce additional flying our heartland in the USA for summer 2024.

“By utilising our brand new A350 and A339 aircraft, our passengers can travel in style with Virgin Atlantic, as we commit to operating the routes that our customers love to fly.

“With Boston and New York, JFK being key business and leisure travel routes, customers can rely on Virgin Atlantic to connect them to these popular destinations as we offer more opportunities to travel with our expanded offering.”

Leaning on the Joint Venture

With Asian traffic still in recovery, rather than growth, Virgin Atlantic is concentrating its growth for summer 2023 across the pond, and with its join venture with Delta Air Lines to drive traffic.

The additional services announced should be good traffic pullers, with the London – New York pair ever fruitful, whilst the Boston provides a good entry point to the North East of the USA.

Similarly, this provides excellent feed into both Delta’s hubs and Virgin Atlantic’s London Heathrow base, allowing passengers to travel far and wide without too much difficulty connecting at the major hubs.
