There was an announcement (one of many) that passed me by during the busy period that is Aircraft Interiors Expo, with Geven Seating partnering with Wizz Air to launch a new seat – the Eva.
Wizz Air has been a long-term customer of Geven, taking on their Essenza seat for its fleet so far. Geven will be equipping the airline’s brand-new Airbus A321neo fleet with the Eva seats.
This agreement between the two companies encompasses nearly 200 shipsets, translating into almost 45,000 passenger seats. This substantial investment will ensure a consistent, lightweight, and upgraded experience across Wizz Air’s growing fleet.
Eva is a lightweight seat, specifically designed for high-density narrow-body aircraft. It seamlessly blends optimised living space with comfort, ensuring that passengers enjoy an exceptional and comfortable travel experience even in the most demanding cabin configurations.
By selecting Eva, Wizz Air’s passengers and operations will benefit from the seat’s unique features:
- Exceptional Space & Comfort: Eva offers optimised ergonomics and enhanced living space. It features a patented enhanced full composite backrest that increases knee clearance. The seat also features Geven’s exclusive lightweight structural cushion, ingeniously eliminating the need for a traditional seat pan.
- Efficiency & Sustainability: Eva delivers best-in-class weight performance, contributing to reduced fuel consumption and emissions. Its simple and robust design ensures low cost of ownership and ease of maintenance. Furthermore, sustainability acts as an additional core product driver to reduce environmental impact and the overall carbon footprint.

Pasquale Rapullini, Sales and business development manager at Geven, said:
“We are thrilled to solidify our enduring partnership with Wizz Air through this incredible project,”.
“Eva is designed to offer exceptional comfort and to meet the stringent operational and efficiency needs of modern airlines. Collaborating with Wizz Air allows us to bring our shared vision and expertise directly into the passenger experience.”
Julia Brix, Supply Chain Officer at Wizz Air, added:
“The selection of Eva seats supports our strategy of combining efficiency with an enhanced passenger experience,”
“Lightweight design and emission reduction are key priorities for Wizz Air, and this solution meets both without compromise. By choosing Eva for our A321neo fleet, we confirm our focus on innovative cabin solutions that enhance efficiency while maintaining high passenger comfort standards. This collaboration sets a new benchmark for high-density cabin interiors, demonstrating how design, performance, and sustainability can successfully converge.“
So how does it stack up in the real world?
I was visiting Geven for another reason (with flyadeal announcing they were to take the Comoda AQ seat), with the marketing person giving me a quick update on the rest of their products, including Eva.
As we can see, Eva is a fixed-back seat, and again, lightweight. That design language transfers to the back, where Geven have showed it a net seat pocket and a fold-out tray in this configuration
Of course, this is customisable to customer needs. The decoration modules are, of course, in Geven colours, and the rendering above shows how they will look when delivered to Wizz Air.
In comfort terms, it’s a lightweight seat. Passable for the short-haul segments with some reasonable leg room, like a lot of low-cost carrier seats. Depending on seat density and segment length, that could be a different matter.
Lightweight Seating… passable for passengers, attractive for dense operations
Lightweight seating is here to stay, as airlines seek to reduce costs. And like it or not, airplane seats make up a lump of that cost over the life of an aircraft – with heavier seats costing more, given that fuel is needed to lift that seat (and its passenger) in the air and fly them to their destination.
And that works to the total cost of ownership of the aircraft and seat. Kilograms and grams saved at the point of getting a new seat lead to reduced fuel costs and reduced emissions.
As for the passenger, especially for the ultra-low-cost carriers, comfort is an important factor, but not the only factor when selecting such an airline. So having a seat which provides support and space to sit in will be welcome to them.
For those airlines that want to offer density and some comfort, Geven’s Eva could work well for them.
