Over the period of Aircraft Interiors Expo, Airbus Services secured extra refit contracts. Let us have a look at what they added to the portfolio.
SWISS selects the Airspace L-Bins for retrofit
We have a bit of an obsession with overhead bins at Economy Class and Beyond, and it’s good to see that SWISS has selected the Airspace L-Bin for retrofit.
Lufthansa and Iberia have taken the bins already. SWISS becomes the third, with two undisclosed customers yet to be announced.
SWISS will equip three A320s and five A321s with the new L-Bins.
The Airspace L Spacebins are manufactured by EFW.
In terms of deployment, they’re rather attractive as they can be retrofitted in a matter of days.
They allow A320 Family operators to increase the overhead cabin bag space which they can offer to their passengers – with up to 60 per cent more capacity than existing bins.
Airbus secures THAI A320 cabin retrofit deal – first in Asia-Pacific region
Thai Airways International (THAI) has selected Airbus to retrofit its fleet of 20 A320ceo aircraft with reclining business class seats, marking the Airbus’ first-ever cabin retrofit for a single-aisle fleet in the Asia-Pacific region.

These aircraft, which recently entered THAI’s fleet following the integration of its former subsidiary, Thai Smile Airways, are being upgraded to the latest in terms of passenger experience and comfort.
Under this agreement, Airbus Services will oversee the installation of 12 Business Class seats on each A320ceo, leading to a two-class configuration of 12 in Business Class, and 144 in economy class – a total of 156 seats. This compares to the previous configuration when they used with Thai Smile, which accommodated between 168 to 174 passengers.
China Airlines selects Airbus for A350 cabin interior retrofit
Finally, Airbus has signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with Taiwan’s China Airlines to retrofit the airline’s A350 cabins with a new layout and state-of-the-art amenities.
Under this agreement, Airbus Services will oversee the installation of China Airlines’ latest Premium Business Class, Premium Economy Class and Economy Class seats on its fleet of 15 A350-900s.
The suite of upgrades covers seating in all classes, in-flight entertainment and connectivity, and the cabin environment.
