The state of rail transportation in the UK – a mini-report

03/08/2009 by Kevincm

I'd thought I'd stick to the "travel" theme a bit more and look back at this weekend in terms of rail travel. Yes. Rail. Don't worry - I won't do too much of this. Well maybe a bit more. This weekend, I went to visit the parentals - and also to do a model shoot. Here are a few observations from the weekend: Bar one train - everything was on time (and that train was … [Read more...]

Well it's near the end of the week (and it's been awful here) so lets do some news that might affect you.. or not BA's food Debcale Need I say much more? No signs of climbdown or anything alas. BA cuts food in Shorthaul travel, takes one step closer to the race to the bottom

29/07/2009 by Kevincm

BA. The worlds cash-strapped airline seems to be going for broke on the savings front. As well as getting staff to work for nothing or on sabbatical, a pay cut from the flight deck of 2.6%, and of course WeeWhille working for nothing in July seems to be finally looking to its onboard product... and is promptly making cuts to food. Now this has been murmuring around the net, … [Read more...]

27/07/2009 by Kevincm

Ah. You've gotta love the alternative communities. This gem from the San Francisco Chronicle Of sex toys, weapons and airplanes - http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/steinberg/detail?entry_id=43569 Now for those in the know, a whip is hardly a weapon. But as of course it's metal, the TSA in Seattle has a field day (TSA and Seattle and me don't go together... I sympathise … [Read more...]

787 Update – Can we fix it? Yes we can… eventually!

26/07/2009 by Kevincm

(I started typing this - then work got in the way. And Drink). It seems Boeing has hired Bob the builder to sort a fix to ZA001 - the first flying frame. And the good news is they've found where and how to fix it. The bad news is it's in the back end of beyond. As usual, Jon at FlightBloggerat has the full technical breakdown, but to sum up a few points: Slippage. … [Read more...]
