The more they stay the same. Good morning from Digbeth Coach station in the heart of the Irish wiarter in Birmingham. Well - good is a lie, but it's a term that will suffice. Sometimes, I don't think the stressful parts of my trips aren't the flying part - it's the part getting to the airport that can be more stressful than not. Take … [Read more...]
Improved UK Uber sign up – now £20!
I've slowly warmed to Uber in recent months - namely because they now operate out my home city of Birmingham (as well as Leeds, Manchester and London). What's good is when they offer decent sign-up bonuses - and Uber is offering one at the moment - which is double their normal signup bonus. So in other words, you get a £20 bonus if you sign up before 20th May 2015. … [Read more...]
Uber comes to Birmingham
Uber has launched services in my local city - Birmingham with a fanfare. The "Shared Ride" company will be going up against the Black Cabs and Private Hire cars that currently operate in the city. Prices seem "reasonable", with Uber quoting the following: Birmingham New Street Station to Selly Oak – £5-7 The Bullring to Edgbaston – £4-6 City Centre to Birmingham Airport … [Read more...]
Why didn’t I use Uber in Chicago…
There's been a lot of buzz, criticism and everything else about Uber. However, it's not a service I've tried myself. The reason? I don't live near enough to take advantage of a Uber service (and my trips to London are becoming rarer and rarer). So whilst in Chicago yesterday, I was walking around in a daze (trust me... I was not functioning on nearly any level at all), and … [Read more...]

Seoul City Council seeks to ban Uber
It seems Uber isn't winning any friends in Seoul, with Seoul's City Council preparing to ban Uber, with the council concerns including background checks made on drivers, the upkeep of vehicle used for Uber, and the impact Uber has made on traditional taxi services. Uber was introduced into Seoul in August 2013, operating their "Uber Black" service, but it seems this is too … [Read more...]
An Uber bit of trouble in London (and Europe) today
London Taxi drivers will be staging a protest today against Uber. It seems that they are unhappy with what they see as the lack of regulation of Uber, and the use the Uber App which they believe is akin to a taxi meter - which in London is limited to "Black Cabs" only. The protest will commence from 14:00 today (11th June) with up to 12,000 drivers expected to take part. The … [Read more...]
